Radu Albot: Moldova is better than Hungary

The Moldovan tennis payers are optimistic before the duel with Hungary within the Davis Cup. During February 1-3, Moldova will host the match with the Hungarian team for the first tour of the second group of the Euro-African zone, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We play at home and will have our fans near us. Surely, we mustn’t relax, but Moldova is better both in singles and in doubles,” Radu Albot, the leader of the national team, said in a news conference on January 30. “We are not afraid of the opponents. The first matches are the most important. We must be motivated to the maximum,” stated Maxim Dubarenko. The Moldovan team includes Radu Albot (225th position in the world rankings), Maxim Dubarenko (525th), Andrei Ciumac (582nd), and Andrei Gorban (1,267th). The national squad of Hungary came to Chisinau without their best player, Attila Balasz, who is the 267th in the ATP rankings. The team consists of Marton Fucsovics, Viktor Filipenko, Levente Godry, and Gergely Madarasz. The draw for the singles and doubles will take place on January 31. Moldova made its debut in the Davis Cup in 1995. The best performance of Moldova was the presence in the first tour of the second group of the Euro-African zone in 2002 and 2012. This result can be improved if Hungary is beaten.
