The National Confederation of Trade Unions is asking Prime Minister Dorin Recean to intervene and help with salary arrears at the state-run CFM. The national railway operator, says the Confederation, has missed 136 million lei in payments to over 5,000 of its employees since April.
This problem “seriously affects the well-being of employees and of their family members”, the Confederation said in a letter, adding: “the lack of funds makes it impossible for the employees to cover the daily expenses of their families, and provide supplies and other products needed for their children ahead of the new school year”.
“The employees of this state company have demonstrated their commitment and carried on with their duties in spite of the economic troubles, and even were involved in measures taken to manage the refugee crisis”, the letter to the prime minister noted.
The Confederation concluded by asking the prime minister to identify the funds needed to offset the salary arrears.
