Registry Service will not issue documents during one hour anymore

From Monday, March 29, the Registry Service under the Ministry of Justice will not issue documents in an urgency regime - during one hour. For several weeks, the archive's employees have received by 1,000 applications daily, but manage to process only 400. The announcement was made by Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase in a news conference on March 26, Info-Prim Neo reports. The minister said that most of the applicants for civil status documents are persons who want to regain the Romanian nationality. All the registry offices in the country have been besieged following rumors that the five local agencies that accept applications for regaining the Romanian nationality, in Bucharest, Iasi, Cahul, Galati and Timisoara, will work only by March 31. Alexandru Tanase denied the rumors, saying he was assured by officials of the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau that the agencies will not stop work. The minister also said that he signed an order banning issuing civil status documents during one hour. According to him, the available personnel cannot cope with the large number of applications. Last week, two employees of the Ministry of Justice were taken to the hospital by an ambulance as they fell sick.
