A commission will be constituted at the Mother and Child Institute to examine the applications filed by families who ask for in vitro fertilization based on the health policy. Specialists of the commission will choose the eligible couples according to the agreed criteria. The Ministry of Health worked out the relevant regulations and proposed these for public debates, IPN reports.
The couple or a couple member will personally present the file to the assessment commission for examination. The required documents are specified in the draft regulations. The commission will be responsible for managing and updating the waiting list.
The in vitro fertilization procedure will be performed at one of the four private clinics of the country that provide such medical services. These are: Repromed Medical Center, New Med Life Clinic, TerraMed Clinic and Medpark International Hospital.
The contracts with the clinics will be signed by the National Health Insurance Company. An in vitro fertilization procedure will cost 31,729 lei. The sum does not include the price of drugs that the woman patient will receive in ambulatory conditions.
The regulations concerning the provision of in vitro fertilization services financed with mandatory health insurance funds can be consulted on particip.gov.md. Suggestions and comments on the content of the document can be left by February 14, 2017.
According to statistics of the National Center for Reproductive Health and Medical Genetics, about 140,000 couples of reproductive age are now fertile in Moldova. In 3,000 cases, the problem can be solved only by in vitro fertilization.
