Reintegration of detained children and young people to be facilitated by vocational training

The reintegration of imprisoned children and young people will be facilitated by ensuring access to high-quality vocational training as part of a project launched by the Regina Pacis Foundation in partnership with the National Administration of Penitentiaries.

In an event held to present the objectives of the project, it was proposed creating a working group for designing the functioning mechanism of the support network in order to back the social-professional integration of the detained young people. The working group will consist of representatives of public institutions and NGOs active in the field, IPN reports.

Regina Pacis Foundation director Ilie Zabica said the organization’s initiatives are designed to support the persons in difficulty, while the education and resocialization methods were mainly undertaken from international practice.

Iuliana Curea, of the National Administration of Penitentiaries, noted that such kinds of projects are encouraging for detainees as a profession, a qualified trade can reduce the risk of recidivism.

Iurie Mahu, of the National Probation Inspectorate, said intense cooperation relations should be established in this regard as the young people are the future of a county and they should be involved in vocational and correction activities so as to prevent recidivism and crime.
