Rescuers get ready for summer season

Two of the 19 national rescuers stations in Drochia and Ungheni are not yet ready for the summer season. The shortage of rescuers is the most serious problem. However, the preparedness level of the rescuers stations improves from year to year, Liliana Puscasu, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told IPN.

As a result of an inspection carried out by the Service, it was established that compared with the previous years, the preparedness level of the stations is higher because the frogmen are better prepared, while the equipment is modernized.

“It is gladdening that the population became more responsible, while the rescuers are better prepared. But there are not enough rescuers. At the beach in Vadul lui Voda for example, the number of rescuers is much lower compared with the number of persons resting there,” said Liliana Puscasu.

The inspection at the rescuers stations lasted for two weeks. Such inspections are performed twice a year - at the start of the summer season and at the end of the cold season.

Ten of the 19 rescuers stations working in Moldova are situated in recreational areas in Chisinau, while nine are in the districts of Drochia, Soroca, Briceni, Edinet, Ungheni, Falesti, Orhei, and the municipality of Balti.
