Vasile Iacubov, head of the War Veterans Association of Ciocana district of Chisinau, who is an ex-member of the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA), said the party’s leaders, even if they spoke about the peaceful removal of the current government, actually planned to seize power by force. In a news conference IPN, this called on his colleagues-veterans to be attentive to what the leaders of this party tell them to do.
Vasile Iacubov said that during over a year he had taken part in the protests initiated by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”, which were later continued by the party created by the leaders of the protest movement. He saw how the leaders of the movement caused tensions or urged others to break the police cordons and provoke altercations.
According to Vasile Iacubov, within the April 24 protest the leaders planned to oust the government by gaining control over the Chisinau International Airport and the Government Building and to set fire to the building that houses a number of TV channels that are said to belong to the first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc, against whom the PPPDA mainly pleads. The veterans’ leader told the journalists that he found out about this scenario when he was instructed to take control over the airport together with a group of young people, but he refused.
Vasile Iacubov noted that the hidden plans of the party’s leaders made him and other veterans to leave the party on August 5 this year. Asked why he didn’t notify the police of these plans, Vasile Iacubov said he will do it, but hesitated until now because he had to analyze the situation well. Through the agency of the press, he called on the veterans not to yield to the calls to take power by force.
