The Romanian Culture Institute “Mihai Eminescu” will be located in the House of the Zemstvo, the building of the local government of Bessarabia province in Imperial Russia, under a rental lease agreement approved today by Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The House of the Zemstvo is owned by the state and is currently operated by the Museum of Ethnography and Natural History. The building with an area of 1,337.3 sq.m. is located on 103 Sciusev Street.
Under the lease agreement, the Romanian Culture Institute committed to fully renovate the entire complex of structures belonging to the House of the Zemstvo. Additionally, the Romanian Culture Institute agreed to establish a National School to train experts in rehabilitating historical monuments, who are a deficit in Moldova, as well as an Institute of Advanced Studies in Liberal Art and a Public Library of Liberal Arts, announced Culture Deputy Minister Gheorghe Postica.
The restoration of the building will take four years to complete, plus a grace period of one year, and will cost 3 million euros.
The Romanian Culture Institute “Mihai Eminescu” was created under a Moldo-Romanian Agreement on 12 October 2010.
