Rugby team scores first victory
The national rugby-15 team of Moldova defeated Czech Republic’s squad by 45-30 in a 2011 World Championship qualifying match, Info-Prim Neo reports. It was the first victory scored by the Moldovan ruby players this year.
Moldova played well during the first half and was leading by 30-10 before the break. The situation changed a little in the second half of the game, but it was again in hand after Alexei Cotruta and Alexandru Sascani scored the victory goals.
After the match, Vasile Revenko, the president of the National Rugby Federating, said he was satisfied with the results achieved by the Moldovan team. “We finish the year with a nice victory at home. Next year, we will have to win the last two matches so as to secure a place in Division 2 A. If we had a bit of luck, we could now lead the rankings,” Revenko said.

Moldova will play the last two qualifying matches against Poland on April 10 and Ukraine on April 24, 2010, Info-Prim Neo reports.
