Manufacturing and trading in law enforcement and military uniforms outside of public procurement procedures will be punished under a resolution adopted by the Cabinet on the proposal of the Ministry of the Interior.
Under the resolution, private companies will be able to engage in such activity only as public service contractors commissioned by authorities in the fields of defense, national security, public order and corrections. Orders from the Security and Intelligence Service and its agents are excepted from the rule.
Violations will carry fines ranging from 1,000 to 4,000 lei for individuals, and from 4,500 to 7,500 for people in management positions. Legal entities will have to pay fines ranging from 5,500 to 8,000 lei and face a suspension of their license for up to 5 months.
According to the MoI, the measure aims to prevent unauthorized use of such uniforms and distinctive insignia by civilians.
