School principal in Drochia arrested for corruption

The principal of a school in Drochia is criminally charged with corruption. According to the person who reported the alleged offense, the principal solicited 900 euro and 500 lei in order to issue a baccalaureate degree. He claimed he could influence officials at the Ministry of Education in order to introduce the authentication data for the diploma in the Informational system for verifying education papers, IPN reports.

The National Anticorruption Center announced that the suspect was caught red-handed, after receiving the money he had demanded.

The man is held in custody for 72 hours and is under criminal investigation. If he is found guilty, he could spend 2 to 6 years in jail or receive of fine between 3000 and 4000 conventional units.
