Law enforcement officers raided the home of a former head of section of the state-owned enterprise Moldovan Railways (CFM) in the case concerning the renting of locomotives from the Transnistrian region. The former CFM director was indicted in the same case, IPN reports.
The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said that in 2018, the former head of section was empowered by the company’s administration to sign the locomotive lease agreement, before the annex to the contract was signed by the ex-CFM director. The document was signed to the detriment of the company’s interests and without these services being stipulated in the procurement plan for that year.
As a result of the searches, documents and information storage devices were seized and are to be examined. Later, the former section head was taken in for questioning.
A week ago, prosecutors announced that the former director of the state-owned enterprise Moldovan Railways Iurie Topală will stand trial for fraudulently renting locomotives from the left bank of the Nistru, causing damages of over 5 million lei.
