Seasonal flu cases are increasing, with the highest number – 237 - recorded in Chisinau.

However, the hospitalization rate remains low, according to Vladimir Bolocan, head of the General Directorate for Medical and Social Assistance, who spoke at a municipal meeting, IPN reports.

Last week’s report showed that 7 out of 17 adults diagnosed with the flu were hospitalized, along with 13 out of 87 children. According to Vladimir Bolocan, treatment duration is longer for the type B virus, leading to extended hospital stays for patients.

The municipal health chief also stated that the peak of infections has already passed.

"We will present proposals to the Ministry of Health. We hope to be heard this time, as we were not last year so that we can be better prepared for the next flu season and have greater flexibility in providing assistance to patients and those with complications from acute respiratory infections," said Vladimir Bolocan.

Epidemiologists recommend maintaining social distancing, avoiding crowded places, and adhering to hygiene and sanitary regulations.
