Security Council seeks broader powers
The Supreme Security Council is seeking broader powers to be able to monitor how the state institutions implement the National Security Strategy, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We decided to form a task force to clearly delimit the powers of the Security Council and of other state authorities. All the proposals should be made within the limits of the Constitution”, President Nicolae Timofti stated on Monday.
In particular, Nicolae Timofti believes that the Security Council should have the authority to effectively monitor relevant policies and propose clear recommendations to the state agencies concerned. “Many officials don't even know very well what duties they have in this area”, he said.
At its latest meeting the Supreme Security Council discussed about the implementation of the National Security Strategy and decided to develop an action plan in this regard.
