A former serviceman was sentenced to 23 years in jail for shooting dead his wife. It happened two years ago on Muncesti St in Chisinau. The woman aged 36 was killed near the door of her house, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The prosecutors established that the man planned the murder beforehand. Wearing a mask and coveralls, he waited for the victim to come home and fired two shots at her. The woman died on the spot.

The culprit held a hunter’s gun illegally. He killed his wife in order to come into possession of their common property and then to start a new family with his lover. The culprit and the victim had two minor children who remained in the care of the woman’s father.

The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
