Seven people, including two children, were killed and four others were critically injured last night in a traffic accident involving two cars. The accident occurred on the motorway Chisinau-Ungheni on the outskirts of the capital around 9:00PM, IPN reports.

According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate's spokesperson Diana Fetco, one of the cars carrying six people was driven to the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with another car with five people inside. All the occupants of the former, including a newborn and a toddler, died instantly. One 16-year-old from the other car died this morning in hospital.

The collision was so violent that an extrication team was needed to take the victims out.

Four other people are now hospitalized in critical condition. Two of them, including a teenager, are in deep brain coma.

The speeds involved are not yet exactly known. The accident is investigated to establish the causes.
