The team of the Swiss captain, Alexander Frei, easily eliminated Debrecen in the third Champions League qualifying round. The Swiss champions are coached by Thorsten Fink, former winner of the Champions League with Bayern Munich. Basel will be the first hosts on August 17 or 18, with the second leg to take place a week later in Tiraspol. The defeated will be relegated to the Europa League groups.
