SIS archive has been flooded
The special store of the Security and Information System (SIS), where the files of the victims of political repression are kept, has been flooded as a result of the September 4 and 5 rain. Historian Mihai Tasca told Info-Prim Neo that about 50 files have been drenched. SIS employees are trying to restore them.
The water entered the archive on the weekend, but the employees found the wet files at the start of the week. “This case shows again that the special store of the SIS is not suitable for storing files and they should be immediately transferred to a specialized archive,” said Mihai Tasca, who is the secretary of the commission for studying the totalitarian Communist regime in Moldova.
A month ago, the members of the given commission proposed moving the files from the stores of the law enforcement bodies to the National Archive. The proposal was discussed at a meeting involving representatives of these bodies, convened by Acting President Mihai Ghimpu.
