More than 100 NGOs, services and organizations, parties and media outlets are ready to tear Moldova apart, said the director of the Security and Information Service (SIS) Mihai Balan. The SIS knows and monitors these organizations and persons by means within the law.

“The situation in the region is very difficult and it negatively affects Moldova. I would like to note that the situation is under control. The country’s administration is permanently informed about the state of affairs in the country and the region. It’s important to be watchful and not to yield to the provocations of forces that want Moldova to suffer. Regretfully, there are more such provokers than people who love Moldova,” Mihai Balan said in an interview for Radio Free Europe, quoted by IPN.

The SIS drew up a map of risks and threats to state security. “You can see it yourself. There are over 100 NGOs, services and organizations, parties and media outlets that are ready to tear this land apart. But they should not think that everything is allowed in our country. I assure you that no statement with extremist or separatist undertone is ignored. If not today, tomorrow those who make such statements will have to answer in accordance with the law,” stated Mihai Balan.

He noted that the Transnistrian conflict is the biggest threat to Moldova’s security and it is simultaneously the most painful problem. “What danger can be greater than when 10% of Moldova’s territory is occupied by separatist forces and when foreign troops are deployed there?” asked the SIS director.

He underlined that the SIS is ready to ensure the security of Moldova not only in election campaigns. “We possess information that there are provokers whose task is to destabilize the situation in Moldova, especially during the election campaign,” said Mihai Balan, calling on the people to be vigilant and not to respond to provocations, especially within mass demonstrations.
