Small grants program for Diaspora-based media

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission to Moldova, in cooperation with the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, is launching a Small Grants Program for Diaspora-Based Media. The program is designed to sport Diaspora initiatives/persons involved in Diaspora outreach activities, aiming to provide and disseminate relevant information for the Diaspora, reflecting events from Moldova, as well as policies and programs for the Diaspora in Moldova and in the countries of destination, IPN reports.

According to the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, the grants mechanism is open for Diaspora independent journalists (professionals and freelancers), implementing outreach activities targeting Moldovan citizens staying abroad, though various mass-media instruments, such as written media (periodic publications) and audio-visual means (radio, TV, internet).

Interested initiative groups or individuals can apply for the grant based on the Call for Proposal by filling out an application form. Both documents are accessible on www.cancelaria.gov.md and https://www.facebook.com/BiroulPentruRelatiiCuDiaspora.

IOM will offer in-kind support, in the amount of up to US$800, to a number of 5 initiatives/persons, for the procurement of the technical equipment necessary for implementing Diaspora outreach activities, using various mass-media instruments. The total amount for the grants mechanism is US$4,000.

The applications will be evaluated on October 27-29, while the results will be announced by October 31, 2014.
