The Government approved the ratification of the protocol to amend the social insurance agreement between the Republic of Moldova and Estonia that was signed on October 2, 2020. The proposal to modify the agreement was put forward by the Estonian side following the launch of the national work capacity determination reform in Estonia. The reform provides for the substitution of the pension for incapacity for work with the allowance for incapacity for work as this pension no longer forms part of the Estonian state social insurance system, IPN reports.
Under the protocol, the pension for incapacity for work will continue to be paid for a particular period of time to persons with the domicile in the Republic of Moldova, until the set period of incapacity for work expires or until retirement age is reached in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Estonia.
Based on the agreement, the social insurance pensions stipulated in the law on the public pension system are set and are paid from the state social insurance budget.
