Soviet Occupation Museum to be opened in Moldova

A museum to exhibit proofs of the Soviet occupation will be opened at the Center of Military Culture and History of the National Army. Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru signed an order to this effect today, September 16. The museum will be opened in a bid to give the young generation a military-patriotic education, IPN reports.

The minister explained that the young people must know the historical truth and the consequences of that period. “No citizen who does the military service at the National Army should be educated through Soviet military symbols and by being told that we were defeated by occupants,” stated Anatol Salaru.

In this connection, there was shown the tank T-34, which is located on the territory of the Motorized Infantry Brigade “Stefan cel Mare”. A floating tank PT will be taken today from this brigade to the Center of Military Culture and History as an exhibit of the future museum.

The permanent exhibition of the Soviet Occupation Museum will be opened on March 27, 2016.
