The special customs control measures for baggage that were to be applied from December 1 on the Moldovan-Romanian border were put off. The customs authorities of Moldova agreed with the Romanian ones to maintain the current measures for the period of the winter holidays, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Customs Service, in a telephone conversation with his Romanian counterpart Claudiu Ardeleanu, the Service;’s director Tudor Balitski underlined the necessity of intensifying the cooperation in combating frauds and implementing efficient control solutions so that the people of good faith are able to easily cross the Moldovan – Romanian border.
On November 15, an attempt was made to introduce statements for personal possessions in the Romanian customs. The vehicles and minibuses with passengers stayed in the Albita customs posts for 8 hours. Shortly afterward, these provisions were suspended and were to be reintroduced on December 1.
