A special parliamentary committee will identify solutions and propose measures to overcome the crisis in the agricultural sector. The draft decision on the establishment of the commission was approved on Thursday by Parliament, at the proposal of the MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists Radu Mudreac and Corneliu Furculiță. According to the authors, the situation in the agricultural sector is critical, IPN reports.
“Previously, the drought affected the south, but now this problem is faced in all the districts of the Republic of Moldova. We have warned the Government over the past few years that it is necessary to undertake various measures and policies in this area in order to prepare, if necessary, the sector and to prevent a food security issue at country level,” Radu Mudreac stated in the Parliament’s plenary sitting.
The commission will consist of seven members and will be led by MP Iurie Păsat, who is also a farmer. MP Valeriu Muduc was appointed secretary of the commission that will also include MPs Alexandr Trubca, Ion Poia, Mariana Cușnir, Radu Mudreac, and Corneliu Furculiță. According to the draft law, within 90 days, the commission will present to Parliament a draft normative document and a package of measures to overcome the agricultural crisis.
According to the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, the legislature can set up special commissions for examining draft legislative documents, drafting complex legislative acts or for other purposes that are indicated in the decision to constitute the respective commission.
