During three days of the special operation “Speed”, the police identified 238 speeding drivers, who were fined 400 to 1,000 lei and penalized 3 to 5 penalty points. Tudor Capatana, specialist of the Traffic Police Division's PR department, has told Info-Prim Neo that radar trap equipment was placed on a number of arteries. 100 drivers who were going too fast were discovered during one day, on March 17. Psychologists say the persons who did not achieve results at professional, family or sentimental level try to assert themselves by astounding the people and by speeding when driving a vehicle. The alcohol and drugs also make the drivers accelerate. The nationwide road accident prevention operation “Speed” is carried out between March 15 and 21.
