Spiridon Vangheli: 2013 was year of children

Writer Spiridon Vangheli, who has been celebrated this year at official level, said that 2013 is in fact the year of children as they are his source of inspiration and give him new force to create. In the festivity held to mark the end of the Year of Spiridon Vangheli, the author presented his book “I am Guguta”, IPN reports.

“I think the title “I am Guguta” will mobilize the children to read as this book was inspired by the letters written by them. The book includes the children’s wishes, dreams and adventures,” said Spiridon Vangheli.

The event was held at the National Puppet Theater “Licurici” on December 17. It involved children from all over the country.

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca thanked the writer for the effort he made to educate the new generations and congratulated him on the presentation of the new book.

“The works of Spiridon Vangheli are a real treasure for children. They represent our values and deserve to be appreciated by the while world,” said Claudia Balaban, director general of the National Children’s Library “Ion Creanga”.

This year has been celebrated in Moldova as the Year of Spiridon Vangheli. On June 14, the writer turned 81. His works were translated and printed in the U.S., Germany, Japan, Hungary, Finland and other countries. Spiridon Vangheli holds the Diploma of Honor Hans Christian Andersen, the State Award of Moldova, the Romanian Writers Prize, and the Order of the Republic.
