Valentin Eșanu, who heads SRL "Sofilarex Plus" that collects and exports ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal, sent an open letter to the authorities, informing about the wrongdoings committed against the company and its employees and asking to examine the situation and take the required measures, IPN reports.
“Together with the first actions to de-monopolize the ferrous and nonferrous metals market in the Republic of Moldova, through the agency of SRL "Sofilarex Plus" I aimed to perform continuous activities so as to develop the business and liberalize the market and to stimulate free competition on this segment. In particular, with considerable efforts, SRL "Sofilarex Plus" started to export ferrous and nonferrous metals to the EU and Turkey. This wasn’t possible earlier as the market was monopolized by SA "Metalferos" by creating artificial and exaggerated export conditions,” Valentin Eșanu wrote in his letter.
The firm manager said that attempts are made to further control the ferrous and nonferrous metals market and to keep the monopoly by illegal methods. He and his employees are followed by cars and the company is subject to unfounded inspections by state bodies.
Valentin Eșanu intuits that pressure is being exerted by the forces that now control SA "Metalferos" and by the so-called Moldovan Employers Ferrous and Nonferrous Metals Recycling and Collection Association.
The manager noted that in June, devices of an unknown origin were found in three trucks that transported scrap metal of SRL "Sofilarex Plus" in Giurgiulești Port. The incident was communicated to the authorities, but nothing changed and the persons to blame weren’t identified.
