The state monthly allowances for a number of categories of people will be higher as from April 1. Among the beneficiaries of the rises are the participants in the Nistru war, the Afghanistan war and fighting in other territories. Parliament gave a final reading to the bill that provides for the increase in these allowances, IPN reports.

The persons with disabilities and surviving spouses following World War II, the Nistru war and the Chernobyl cleanup and their children younger than 18, or older if they continue studies fulltime, will get higher allowances.

The allowances were also raised for persons awarded orders and medals for assiduous work and impeccable military service behind the front during World War II.

The rise for each category will be 250 lei. This way, depending on the category of beneficiaries, the minimum allowance will rise to 800-1,800 lei. A sum of 90.6 million lei will be necessary for covering the associated costs.
