The state will borrow €98 million euros from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association for the rehabilitation of regional roads. It will also invest in road safety, modernization and construction of frontier posts (Giurgiulesti, Leuseni, Ungheni), and access roads to border crossing points, IPN reports.
The Cabinet on Monday approved the ratification of the loan agreements. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development said that the agreements are a follow-up to the support provided by the World Bank through the agency of Financial Organizations for the modernization of road and customs infrastructure.
The amount of €98 million will be used to rehabilitate Corridor 5, R13 – Ivanovca-Izvoare-Varnița-Ocolina-M2 with a length of 35 kilometers, Corridor 8.1 and Corridor 8.2 – Cornești-Boghenii Noi – Napadeni-M5 (G88) with a length of 33 kilometers, and Corridor 24 – R34-Ciobălaccia-Tărtaul-R56-Baimaclia-Enichioi-R37 with a length of 43 kilometers.
