The persons working in statistics have marked today for the first time the World Statistics Day and the Professional Day of the Statistician, which was instituted by Government Decision, Info-Prim Neo reports. “It is the duty of the statisticians to responsibly and professionally disseminate statistical data, which are regularly compared with the international ones by the official statistics bodies,” director of the National Bureau of Statistics Lucia Spoiala said during the festivity held to celebrate the Professional Day of the Statistician. Attending the event, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the institution of the Professional Day of the Statistician in Moldova and celebration of the World Statistics Day for the first time shows that Moldova makes effort to meet the international standards and to make the people have more confidence in the products of the statisticians. During the festivity, a number of statistics workers received second- and first-degree diplomas from the Government. The World Statistics Day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly on June 3, 2010.
