The suppression of the post of deputy minister as a result of the Cabinet reform will cost the state 1.2 million lei. The reform bill provides that the 38 deputy ministers, being persons with public posts, benefit from a lump-sum payment equal to two salaries on dismissal. Thus, the relevant costs that will be covered with state budget funds will rise to 1.2 million lei, IPN reports.
The bill contains a new notion – the Cabinet’s Presidium, which is a working body consisting of the Prime Minister, First Deputy Prime Minister and three Deputy Prime Ministers, for labor, health and social protection, for country reunification issues and for European integration.
The Premier’s control body will be a non-legal entity of the State Chancellery that will be managed directly by the Prime Minister. This will be led by a chief named and dismissed by the Premier and will supervise the fulfillment of the duties by the State Chancellery, ministries, the central administrative authorities and organizational bodies.
When the Cabinet is reformed, the number of ministries will be reduced from 16 to nine. The new composition will include: Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure; Ministry of Agriculture and Regional Development; Ministry of Health and Social Protection; Ministry of Education, Culture and Research; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration; Ministry of the Interior; Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Justice.
