The Supreme Council of Magistracy suggested naming Nina Vascan as a judge of the Supreme Court of Justice. The decision was taken by a unanimous vote in the December 12 meeting of the Council. Parliament is to confirm the candidate to the post, IPN reports.
In the same meeting, the Council accepted Oleg Sternioala as a candidate for the post of vice president of the Civil and Administrative Disputes Board of the Supreme Court of Justice and proposed this to Parliament for confirmation.
The members of the Supreme Council of Magistracy examined behind closed doors Prosecutor General Eduard Harunjen’s request to suspend a judge from post. As a result, the Council decided to suspend judge Sergiu Arnaut, who works at the Chisinau Appeals Court. The judge is investigated for passive corruption and inference peddling.
