Swan saved by rescuers in northern Moldova

Employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies were called out to Duruitoarea village of Râșcani district to save a swan that got stuck in the ice on the Prut River, IPN reports.

The Inspectorate said the call to the 112 Service was made in the afternoon of January 31. A rescue team travelled to the scene and established that the bird remained trapped in the ice at a distance of 200 meters from the bank.

The operation lasted for almost an hour. The swan was saved. After warming it up, the rescuers allowed the bird to fly away.

Rescuers so far this year saved 39 animals.
