SWAT officers stand trial for unwarranted use of force
Three SWAT officers stand trial on charges of unwarranted use of force against two arrested men, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Buiucani Prosecutor's Office, in December 2011, two members of the Patrol and Sentry Regiment SCUT and a member of the Special Police Unit Fulger were called to respond to a situation at a bar in Chisinau's suburban town of Durlesti. At the bar, the officers found two men who had already been rendered immobile by the agents of a security firm. However, according to the prosecutors, the officers used pepper spray on the immobilized bar brawlers and then kicked them. One of them suffered rib fractures and the other got a head injury.
The case is pending before the Buiucani District Court.
