Almost 20,000 taxpayers - private individuals directed 2% of their incomes indicated in tax returns to public associations or religions organizations. The percentage allotment mechanism has been used for the first time this year, IPN quoted the State Tax Service’s head Sergiu Puscuta as saying.

The sums of money transferred by this mechanism came to 4.23 million lei. The list of potential beneficiaries was compiled and published by the Ministry of Justice and includes over 500 public associations, organizations, foundations and private institutions.

More than 188,000 persons submitted tax returns in 2016. The paid income taxes totaled 3.126 billion lei.
