Teachers from Moldova, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Russia gathered together in Chisinau for the fourth International Conference “Union through Diversity” in order to exchange experience, Info-Prim Neo reports. The head of the Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb said that this conference is a traditional one and its goal is to promote good practices and familiarize the participants with the educational models of other countries. Attending the event, deputy mayor of Chisinau Nistor Grozavu said the teachers are the driving force of society, who educate the new generations. Diversity can help establish better understanding between different communities, while the exchange of experience plays a special role. The head of the Education and Science Trade Union Dumitru Ivanov said that the conference should reach the conclusion that the education sector must be reformed. “The trade unions would like the teachers to come to work with greater pleasure and have the possibility of educating children, while the children should feel that school is important for them. We must learn from the experience of European countries and reform the institutions for the benefit of the children and teachers,” he stated. Andres Pajula, the head of the Education Department of Tallinn, Estonia, said that he has come to Moldova to exchange experience for several years. “In the meetings we have the possibility of familiarizing ourselves with successful foreign systems and practices. I thank you for your openness for cooperation,” he said. The head of the Student Rest and Sport Subdivision of Dobrici, Bulgaria, Liubomir Sivcov said that after these conferences over 3,000 students who are future teachers went to summer camps in Bulgaria to learn and take part in seminars for teachers. “The development prospects of this area are great,” he stressed. The conference includes nine sections and is taking place on May 7 and 8.
