A 15-year-old boy drowned in a pond near Comrat town of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia on June 1. Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the teen went to swim in the pond together with another four boys. They swam towards the middle of the pond. When swimming back, one of the boys went under the water. The others tried to find him, but did not manage to. They sought help. The body was taken out of the water in about two hours. The boy's mother works in Turkey. One day earlier, the teen talked with his mother over the phone and promised her he will not go swimming. An 82-year-old woman from Leova district drowned in a well. The neighbors said in the morning the woman was hoeing in the garden. Later, she went to drink water and fell into the well. The rescuers took her body out in about an hour. A man aged 50 from Nisporeni district died from carbon monoxide poisoning in a fire caused by a burning cigarette. A number of 91 persons were killed in fires in Moldova this year. Another 27 persons drowned.
