A 15-year-old boy from Parata village of Dubasari district was struck by lightning near an orchard and killed. Liliana Puscasu, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the tragedy happened at about 5pm on May 22. Employees of the mayor's office said the boy spent time with his friends near the Nistru River. He was struck by lightning when they were returning home. It is presumed that the lightning was attracted by the iron contained in the orthopedic corset that they boy wore around the neck. The eighth grader was characterized as an amiable and bright boy. He has a younger brother.
