Teleradio-Moldova seeks augmentation of its budget
The national public broadcaster Teleradio-Moldova risks running up debts and stopping developing, the company's president Constantin Marin said while presenting the business plan for 2011 to the commission on culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Constantin Marin said that a sum of 85 million lei will be allocated to the company this year, but they asked for 140 million lei. According to him, Teleradio-Moldova's budget in 2007 was 78 million lei, in 2008 - 94 million lei, in 2009 - 92 million lei, while last year - 70 million lei.
“In order to survive, we need investments The technological reforms cannot be implemented without investments,” said Marin. He stated that 6 million lei was allotted from the state budget to the company for development in 2007, 14 million lei in 2008, 17 million lei in 2009, 4 million lei in 2010. This year, there has been earmarked no money for the purpose.
The commission's deputy head Corina Fusu said Teleradio-Moldova cannot develop without financing. “It will be hard to reform this institution that had been censored for eight years by the Communists,” she said.
Chiril Lucinschi, chairman of the commission, said he will ask the commission on economy, budget and finance to consider increasing the company's budget.
The commission on culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media approved the national public broadcaster's business plan.
