Those affected by interruptions in power supply can ask for compensation, NAER

The consumers affected by the interruptions in the power supply can ask for compensation from the network operator, the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) has said, quoted by IPN.

The Agency warns about this in connection with the interruption in the power supply in Chisinau on the night of May 17. Earlier, the power network operator RED Union Fenosa SA informed the consumers about an interruption between 1am and 4am, but the power supply was actually restored at 8:55am after being disconnected at 1am. This halt cannot be considered planned and announced as the unplanned interruptions in the case of urban end-users cannot exceed 6 hours.

In such cases, the consumers affected by the interruption can seek compensation from the network operator. For household users, the compensation is 20 lei an hour, for non-household users connected to power lines with the voltage lower than 100 kW – 200 lei an hour, while for consumers connected to power lines with the voltage higher than 100 kW - 500 lei an hour. If the interruption causes damage to end-users, these can ask for damage following the supply of services of a poor quality.

The NAER says that according to the announcement posted on the website of RED Union Fenosa SA on May 17, the consumers who sustained damage as a result of the interruption can contact the company through the Client Support Service on 022-43-11-11 and report the case.
