TI - Moldova suggests suspending persons involved in Paciu case
Transparency International - Moldova sent a letter to the chairman of the National Integrity Commission Anatolie Donciu, whereby he asked taking immediate measures to deal with the conflict of interests situations and to hold accountable the persons to blame for not taking the necessary steps in the case of Sorin Paciu’s killing, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The letter says that in order to avoid conflicts of interest, the persons involved in the incident should be suspended from posts during the investigation. Otherwise, the objectivity of the investigation will be affected and evidence may be lost.
Sorin Paciu was killed during boar hunting in the Domneasca Forest on December 23. The hunting involved government officials. The case was made public on January 6 by politician Sergiu Mocanu, who accused the prosecutor general of being to blame for Sorin Paciu’s death and of trying to hide this crime.
Valeriu Zubko denied the accusations in an open letter.
In this case, the prosecutors are investigating Gheorghe Cretu, who was deprived of judicial immunity on January 10. Afterward, Cretu resigned from the posts of vice director of the Chisinau Court of Appeals and of judge.
