The Bureau for Diaspora Relations and the USAID Moldova Competiveness Project signed a memorandum of cooperation to promote the tourist Moldova at international level through the agency and with the support of the diaspora. The signing ceremony was held on April 11, IPN reports.
The signatories will cooperate in developing and strengthening the relations between the diaspora associations so that these promote the tourist potential of Moldova at foreign level and take part in the process of attracting investments to the tourist sector. By common actions, the sides will encourage the development of different forms of tourism that can hold interest for the Moldovan diaspora, such as rural, religious, business, nostalgic, medical, spa and cultural tourism.
Bureau for Diaspora Relations head Olga Coptu said many of the Moldovan citizens who went abroad learned new professions and are a source that can promote the country of origin. “In this connection, the memorandum specifies a number of concrete measures to involve the diaspora in the promotion of the country,” she stated.
“We know that the diaspora is the best envoy of the country abroad. We sign this cooperation agreement that will define initiatives to more actively involve the diaspora in the promotion of the tourist Moldova and technological Moldova,” stated Doina Nistor, director of the USAID Moldova Competiveness Project.
The memorandum also envisions the designing and printing of promotional materials that will be distributed in the diaspora. As part of international tourism exhibitions in which the Moldova Competiveness Project will take part, the sides will organize sessions to taste Moldovan traditional dishes.
