The trade unions threaten to stage protests if the pays in the budgetary sector are not increased and the legislation on the social protection of salary earners is not revised, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We must find solutions to create conditions for the young people to have jobs in the country. The migration of labor force is a serious problem. A number of 236,000 persons went to work abroad in the first quarter of this year,” chairman of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova Oleg Budza told a press briefing.
The trade unionists demand increasing the basic salary to at least 900 lei as the prices pf products and services go up, and harshly penalizing the employers who illegally employ persons.
“A large part of the salary earners agree with the employer to receive a monthly pay of 3,000-4,000 lei in the envelope. We suggest amending the legislation and fining the employees who favor illegal employment. A fine of €3,000 is imposed on employers in Romania for every person working illegally,” said Oleg Budza.
The trade unions are also dissatisfied with the employers’ proposal to make amendments to the Labor Code so as to deprive the trade unionists of certain intervention instruments. “Most of the articles of the Labor Code proposed for amendment infringe on salary earners’ rights and prevent the trade unions from protecting the employees. It is not necessary to change the basic document in the labor relations,” said Oleg Budza.
The negotiations with the central authorities on the mentioned issues will last for a month. If no compromise is reached, the trade unions will mount large-scale protests.
The Trade Unionist’s Day is marked on June 7.
