An inspector of the Cimislia Traffic Police was arrested for asking 2 000 lei bribe from a driver for not writing a report on DUI against him, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, the inspector was caught in the act of taking 700 lei marked ‘bribe’ in his office. The driver said he earlier gave the police officer 300 lei. In order to be sure that he will receive all the money, the inspector confiscated the man’s license and tractor and trailer registration certificate. The inspector is held at the remand center of the South Local General Division. Legal action was taken against him over passive corruption.
