The police arrested four members of a criminal group trading in narcotic substances. The suspects are aged between 23 and 55 and are residents of Balti municipality. The head of the group, aged 55, is a well-known representative of the criminal underworld in northern Moldova, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Within the searches performed at suspects’ homes, the police found a gun and 20 cartridges held illegally, two air pistols, 600 grams of marijuana as well as hashish and grinded poppy seeds.

The suspects are investigated for illegal distribution of narcotic and psychotropic substances or their analogues and face up to 15 years in jail. The police continue the investigations to establish if the suspects had taken part in other similar offenses committed in the northern districts.

The Balti court issued arrest warrants for 30 days against the members of the group.
