The National Center for Personal Data Protection during November 7-9 will stage training courses intended for representatives of state institutions, media outlets and NGOs who use personal data in their work. The courses will be taught by experts from Germany and Latvia, IPN reports.

In a press briefing on November 2, Maria Dastic, head of the Center’s information and e-transformation service, said that on November 7 the courses will be held in Balti, at the mayor’s office, while on November 8 and 9 in Chisinau, in the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. The applicants can register online by submitting a confirmatory message to instruire@datepersonale.md. English is the language of communication, with interpretation into Romanian. The organizers expect about 350 persons will be trained.

Jekaterina Macuka, resident Twinning adviser, said the participants in the courses will learn about the principle of personal data protection and how to ensure a balance between the right to a private life, the access to information and freedom of expression.

The training courses are designed to familiarize the attendees with the changes made to the law on personal data protection. Special emphasis is placed on the security of data processing, including through procedures for making personal data anonymous. There was added a new range of rights concerning the right to data portability and the right to be forgotten. For their part, personal data operators could work out and abide by codes of conduct and binding corporate rules in their area of activity.

The courses are organized as part of the EU Twinning  project “Capacity consolidation for the National Center for Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Moldova”.
