Members of the Movement of Transnistrian Refugees on June 8 protested in front of the Government Building, demanding that the central public administration should solve the problem concerning the privatizations of their dwellings. They also asked for a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip, IPN reports.
The Movement’s leader Anatolie Bazgu said the Transnistrian refugees took to the streets to show their dissatisfaction with the fact that the problem related to the privatization of their apartments hasn’t been solved three months after their meeting with Pavel Filip.
Anatolie Bazgu noted that he recently received a letter from the local public authorities by which the Transnistrian refugees are informed that their apartments will be privatized at the price of over 11,000 lei per square meter. “Simple calculations show that we must pay over 800,000 lei for a three-room apartment. We thus wonder what kind of provision of the war veterans, officers and sub-officers in reserve and Transnistrian refugees with dwellings is this,” he stated.
The head of the Movement of Transnistrian Refugees also said that the Law on Dwellings takes effect on November 29 this year. This provides that all the apartments that are not privatized will be declared social dwellings that cannot be privatized and sold.
The Premier’s adviser Ion Coropcean went out to talk to the protesters. He said that a working group consisting of Government functionaries and representatives of the Transnistrian refugees will meet on June 9 to discuss the given problem.
