TVR1's license was withdrawn by Vlad Plahotniuc, former director of TV 2 Plus

The license of the Romanian channel TVR1 was withdrawn by businessman Vlad Plahotniuc by fraud, said Razvan Paveliu, the former director of TV 2 Plus, which obtained the frequency that was earlier used by TVR1 and pledged to retransmit TVR 1, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on August 18, Razvan Paveliu said Vlad Plaotniuc urged him to take part in the contest announced by the Broadcasting Coordination Council and assured him that the license of TVR1 will be withdrawn and given to 2 Plus. “Thus, I became a witness to the withdrawal and an instrument in this case. Plahotniuc told me large amounts will be invested in 2 Plus, but no money came,” Paveliu said. The former head of 2 Plus said he is surprised why no investigation into the case of TVR1 was launched as the license was withdraw by raid methods, invoking the non-payment of current debts. “Many of these cases are examined by the ECHR and the state is obliged to pay damages, with the effects being inflicted on the people,” Razvan Paveliu said. “I want to be a witness in a case that has not been yet started. I saw how Gheorghe Gorincioi (chairman of the Broadcasting Coordination Council – e.n.) and other members of the Council were visiting Plahotniuc. There are witnesses to this from Moldova and Romania.” Razvan Paveliu gave the news conference together with former presidential adviser Sergiu Mocanu, who said he launched an anti-mafia campaign against businessman Vlad Plahotniuc. Attending the news conference, two shareholders of Chisinau Hotel said they were deprived of their property by racketeers, including Plahotniuc. Lawyer Dorel Turcan said the senior officials in a civilized country quit if they are involved in a conflict, until the situation is clarified, but in Moldova no institution took steps in this respect. One week earlier, Sergiu Mocanu held a news conference accompanied by other witnesses, who said they lost their businesses because of Vlad Plahotniuc. The latter sued Sergiu Mocanu and businessmen Victor Topa and Viorel Topa, arguing they damaged his honor and professional reputation by their public accusations.
