The police arrested two leaders of the criminal organization “Makena” at end-July. These are “Dima Bolishoi”, who was the right-hand man of the thief in law Vladimir Moscalciuc, alias “Makena”, and “Boxior”. Prosecutor Maxim Gropa told a news conference that both of them are in police custody, IPN reports.
The so-called “Dima Bolisoi” was supervisor per country and gathered money for the criminal organization, while “Boxior” was supervisor for the Chisinau Penitentiary No. 13. They were arrested for blackmail and for organizing the criminal activities.
Earlier, 11 members of “Makena” were together sentenced to 175 years in prison. The criminal case was started at the beginning of 2010, following complaints from detainees, who said they were blackmailed and threatened with death by a group of convicts.
In 1999-2010, Vladimir Moscalciuc, who was condemned and held in different penitentiaries of the country, created the criminal organization “Makena”, which consisted of smaller criminal groups, with the aim of collecting funds for running the organization in jails and for attracting other members from among detainees.
