Two men from the districts of Soldanesti and Taraclia and a child from Orhei district drowned last Sunday, July 28.
Diana Turcan, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told IPN that the eight-year-old boy went swimming in Cucuruzeni, Orhei. Being unsupervised, the boy went too far from the shore of the lake. When he disappeared from view, witnesses called the rescuers, but it was too late. The boy was taken out of water dead. The bodies of the two men, aged 29 and 38, were recovered by locals.
The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service urges caution when going swimming and not to leave the children unsupervised. According to the Service, 36 persons drowned so far this summer. Seven of the victims were children.
